LinkedIn Training for Universities
Help your students make LinkedIn work for their careers.
LinkedIn can open doors for healthcare students long before they qualify. It can help them build professional relationships, explore career opportunities, learn from experienced clinicians and begin developing their professional reputation.
But many students aren't sure how to get started — or how to use LinkedIn in a way that feels relevant to their future careers.
That's where I come in.
I'm Andy Goldman, The LinkedIn Physio. I'm a physiotherapist by background, with more than 13 years' experience across the NHS and private practice. Having built my own LinkedIn presence organically to more than 10,000 followers, I now help Allied Health Professionals and students understand how to use the platform to grow their careers, networks and credibility.
I deliver engaging, practical LinkedIn teaching for university AHP cohorts, helping students move beyond treating LinkedIn as an online CV and start using it as a tool for professional development.
Practical LinkedIn teaching for AHP students
My university sessions combine practical teaching, real-world examples and interactive activities to help students understand how LinkedIn can support their transition into the profession and their longer-term career development.
Sessions can be tailored to your course, cohort, timetable and learning objectives.
Topics can include:
Building a professional LinkedIn profile: Making the most of education, placements, volunteering, interests and experience.
Standing out for the right reasons: Communicating professional interests, strengths and aspirations.
Creating content: Finding relevant ideas and sharing learning experiences in an authentic, professional way.
Networking with purpose: Connecting with AHPs, employers, educators, recruiters and professional organisations.
Exploring career opportunities: Understanding how LinkedIn can support career development, job searches and professional relationships.
Developing a professional reputation: Building credibility and connections from university onwards.
The emphasis is on practical application. Students have opportunities to reflect on their own profiles, explore examples and identify actions they can take straight away.
More than a guest lecture
I want students to leave with more than a few notes and good intentions. That's why my university teaching can include support before, during and after the session.
Before the session
We'll discuss your cohort, curriculum, learning objectives and what you'd like students to take away.
I can provide a pre-session workbook or preparation resource to introduce key ideas and help students get more from the session.
During the session
I'll deliver an engaging, interactive session tailored to your students' needs.
This can include live LinkedIn demonstrations, practical profile optimisation, individual reflection, small-group activities and time for questions.
The content and format can be adapted to suit different year groups, cohort sizes and available teaching time.
After the session
Students receive a follow-up resource to help them put what they've learned into practice.
This might include profile checklists, content prompts, suggested next steps and ideas for continuing to develop their LinkedIn presence.
Where relevant, I'll also signpost students to trusted organisations and resources that can support their professional development, including my brand partners.
Optional follow-up sessions
If you'd like to build on the initial session, we can discuss an additional workshop or follow-up session.
This could give students an opportunity to revisit key learning points, ask further questions and reflect on how they've applied LinkedIn to their professional development.
I understand that university timetables are busy, so follow-up teaching is entirely optional and can be arranged around your course requirements.
Connecting students with the wider AHP community
Developing a professional reputation isn't just about creating a profile. It's also about discovering the people, organisations and opportunities that can support a career.
Through my work with trusted partners, I can introduce students to relevant resources and organisations, including:
Recruit Therapists — recruitment and career opportunities within the therapy professions.
Beyond Preceptorship — support and development beyond initial preceptorship.
Physio First — professional community, development and support for physiotherapists in private practice.
These introductions are tailored to the session and cohort, with the aim of helping students discover useful connections beyond the university environment.
Who is this for?
My university teaching is designed for students studying Allied Health Professions, including physiotherapy and other AHP disciplines.
Sessions can be particularly useful for students preparing for placements, approaching graduation, exploring their first professional role or beginning to think about their longer-term career development.
I'll work with your teaching team to ensure the content reflects your students' experiences, learning objectives and aspirations.
Arranging a university session
Every university and cohort is different, so I work with teaching teams to agree the format, content and level of support required.
Whether you're looking for a focused lecture or a more interactive workshop, we can discuss an approach that fits your students and your curriculum.
Pricing is available on request, as the fee depends on factors including session length, cohort size, preparation and resources, any optional follow-up sessions, and travel requirements.
To discuss your requirements, connect with me on LinkedIn and send me a DM with a little information about your course, cohort and what you'd like students to gain from the session.
I'd love to help your students make a confident start on LinkedIn — and show them how it can support their professional journey long after graduation.
